Random Denny Crane Quotes

I had a sudden need for quotes from Denny Crane at the offie today. Thank goodness for this website then. Kobo would understand.

Lousy Store...

"Hey, do you have any feelings for me?"

"I'm sorry, we're out of stock. Haven't got any feelings for you."

"How about a heart? Do you have a heart?"

"Oh, terribly sorry, the previous girl took the last one that we had in stock."

"Sheesh... What kind of store is this? No feelings and no heart. Tsk... Tsk..."

Amazing Race: London

And so it goes, Thengz misses his connecting flight back to Singapore and was stranded (some won't use the word stranded, but sounds more dramatic, so I'll go with it) in London for a night.

Due to the rain in London, the flight from Cyprus to London was delayed by 2 hours. Just enough time for us to miss the connecting flight. The situation now is: stuck in London for the night. Its 10:30 p.m. at night, and the next flight out is noon. With 14 hours to kill and no place to sleep. However, being the ever 'resourceful' one, I managed to find a cheap hotel with the help of a friend (Plene) and her cousin in London. Obstacle one removed!

Now, its 6 a.m. in the morning. Colleague can't sleep, so colleague and I decided to troop to Central London. Woohoo... And we got to be back at the airport by 10 a.m. So we hopped on to a cab, paid freaking 45 pounds (135 SGD) for a ride to the city, which was way too steep. Thats when we decided to cut the losses and take the Underground instead. 6.70 pounds per person for a day ticket. Much much cheaper. Anyway, here are the photos of London. The Big Ben, the London Eye, Trafalger Square, London Underground, Paddington Station. We also drove pass Buckingham Palace, but they were going to have some kind of parade that day, so we didn't stop to take photos.

All these places visited in 3 hours! And there was still time to get chocolates from Plene in Heathrow Terminal 4 and return back to Terminal 3 to check in our own flight. I should really consider taking part in the Amazing Race. o_O

Larnaka, Cyprus

After an arduous 20 hours plus journey from Singapore via London, I have finally reached Cyprus. To think that in another few hours time, I would be making the same long journey back to Singapore is mind boggling. All this effort just to attend some stupid meeting for half a day. The worst part is, the meeting didn't go too well for us. Not that I care too much about it though.

Anyway, back to the topic of Cyprus. I touched down at something like 5 am in the morning and was thus lucky enough to share the Cyprus sunrise with my colleague. What a romantic moment. Only problem is, the colleague is a guy. Haha... Took a picture of the sunrise. Doesn't look as nice on photos as I was experiencing it though. There's something about the cool crisp morning air that makes the experience better than the photo. And the fact that the photo is taken in a car park doesn't really help.

Next up, while having breakfast, I was amazed to see the view that the hotel have. Its facing the Mediterranean Sea. Yeah farkers, I've seen the Mediterranean Sea. Hoho... Notice how the sea and the sky seem to blend into one? Cool man....

Its just a pity that I didn't bring my DSLR Camera with me. Not that I know how to use it. Here's another picture of the sea. The sand actually doesn't look too great, so I took one picture without any sand in it.

The sea is actually very calm. No waves crashing sound. Almost lake-like. Darn, wish I could be on holiday here and not on work assignment! Ah well, sure beats not being here at all.

Alright, now I can check Cyprus off my list of countries I haven't been. I just have to visit another 150 more and I should have seen every country in the world. O_o

Amazing Race: Larnaca

I'm going to take part in a 3 countries Amazing Race for the next 4 days.

The starting point would be at Singapore's Changi Airport. Next, the contestants will take the 12:30 p.m. flight out of Changi. They will land in London's Heathrow Airport 13 and a half hours later. After a 3 hours transit time, they will each take a 4 and a half hour flight down to Larnaca, Cyprus, touching down on Cypriot soil at the ungodly hour of 4 a.m. in the morning.

After spending 36 hours on Cyprus, the contestants will began the daunting return journey. From Larnaca International Airport, they will take a 4 hours flight to Heathrow. A 3 hours transit is followed by yet another 13 and a half hours back to Singapore.

Total travelling time including transit: 41 hours. Number of hours in Cyprus: 36 hours. Experience gained: Timeless. For everything else, there is Master Card.

P.S. You know that a company is doing pretty OK when it can send a half-wit half world round the world to attend a half day meeting.

Thengz Practices Shopping Therapy, Bankruptcy Imminent.

Alright, maybe not bankruptcy. But I've noticed, I've spent quite a tidy sum for the past month.

Items bought of significant value lately:
  1. A pair of Oakley sunglasses, worth a little more than 500 bucks.
  2. A pair of Ted Baker normal glasses, worth a little more than 400 bucks.
  3. A Hugo Boss wallet, worth 250 bucks of which 60 bucks was offset by credit card voucher.

And the list of items above doesn't include the DSLR camera that I bought earlier this year. Damn, I better start watching my expenditure. I'm fast mutating into the fairer sex. Buying things for the heck of it. And deriving the temporary pleasure of being able to buy the stuff. Yep, happiness for all of 25 nano-seconds. Sheesh...

Now I know why people subscribe to shopping therapy, it's to fill up the void in them!
