Story of the Day

Thengz is about to bitch.

Here's how it goes, an exchange between Colleague X and Thengz on Skype

Colleague X: Do you have the PO for the switches you ordered the other time?

Thengz: Nope, I passed it to Colleague Y already.

(After a considerable pause, which means he definitely saw my initial reply) Colleague X: Can pass it to me?

Thengz: I passed it to Colleague Y already. Passed = Past tense.

Farking retards. And the last laugh is probably on him, he probably didn't even catch my sarcasm. Thengz does not mix well with retards.

Going Audioslave Ga Ga...

Current Song in Head: What You Are, Audioslave

I'm going Audioslave Ga Ga. Been watching Audioslave clips on YouTube last night. Here's something I found. Remember the Wide Awake song I was talking about? Well somebody actually editted clips on Hurricane Katrina with Wide Awake playing in the background.

And here's another one with Audioslave doing a cover of the White Stripe's Seven Nation Army. Great band playing a great song. Check out Chris Cornell's bod man, something to die for...

Alright thats enough Audioslave for now.

Music Question of the Week.

Here's a music related question of the week. Was chatting with the Vegetarian Girl when this came up.

How many singers have had more successful solo careers after they broke up/off from their band?

I could think of 6.

1. Sting (The Police)

2. Phil Collins (Genesis)

3. Robbie Williams (Take That)

4. Ricky Martin (Menudo)

5. Cher (Sonny and Cher)

6. George Michael (Wham!)

Any other contributions? I'm expecting answers from Kobacabana, do not disappoint. Haha...

Salary Comparision

Just read an article on the tax and salary of a certain George W. Bush. Apparently the President of World Police League is paid only US$400,000 (S$600,000) a year. Thats about 5 times lesser than what the Prime Minister of the Little Red Dot is paid.

But still I have no complains. At least the Little Red Dot isn't saddled with a national debt that has more digits than my calculator can handle. At least the Little Red Dot isn't sending their soldiers to die by friendly fire in a foreign land. At least the Little Red Dot does not have a crime rate that would make make Vito Corleone blush.

Yep, I'm just thankful that we're not like our neighbours. Here are some wise words from an old fart.

"Denmark, Switzerland and Finland are part of Europe. you can fail and you're still caught in the European situation. if you fail here, you go back to a Southeast Asian situation. just look around you."

- Minister Mentos
He's da man, man... You mess with my family, you mess with me...

Stop Griping, Singaporeans...

I can sense another wave of complains coming from us, Singaporeans. Before you fellas start complaining about the increase in taxes, raise in civil servants' pay, raise in ministers' pay, etc. Do take a moment and think about how the rest of the world is suffering. Found this gem of a video on Kobacabana's site. Please bear with the first 4 minutes of talking. Its worth it.

Aren't Singaporeans a lucky bunch? You can give me over paid ministers with a stable government over a trigger happy, molotov cocktail wielding neighbour any day.

So please, please, enjoy what you have. You wouldn't want to wake up one day, to find that your house has been razed to the ground. Your family has been massacred and all you're left with is the clothes on your back and an empty, growling stomach.

P.S. Somehow I couldn't get the video in Flash to work on my site. You could go to Kobacabana's site for the Flash video which shows much clearer images.

Wide Awake

Current Song in Head: Wide Awake, Audioslave

Dear Blog, I have a confession to make. After years of supporting Coldplay, I think I finally have a change of heart. I think my favourite band now is Audioslave. Tsk. Tsk. Pity that they have just broken up then.

Anyway, this post might have came a little too late, but 'Wide Awake' is most definitely a song targetted at the Doofus Ignornamous running the US of A. Katrina, Iraq, its all in it. I especially like the line,'While you're somewhere trading lives for oil, as if the whole world were blind.' Sweet. Can't get anything more direct than that.

Here's the lyrics of the song for you guys.

Wide Awake
You can a look a hurricane right in the eye
1200 people dead or left to die
Follow the leaders were it an eye for an eye we'll all be blind
Deaf or murder, of this I'm sure, in this uncertain time

So come pull the sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight
Despite what I've seen today
I find you guilty of a crime, of sleeping at a time
When you should have been wide awake

Down on the road the world is floating by
The poor and undefended left behind
While you're somewhere trading lives for oil
As if the whole world were blind

So come pull the sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight
Despite what I've seen today
I find you guilty of a crime of sleeping at a time
When you should have been wide awake

Come pull the sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight
Despite what I've seen today
I find you guilty of a crime of sleeping at a time
When you should have been wide awake
Wide awake! Wide awake! Wide awake! Wide awake!

Good People

Current Song in Head: Good People, Jack Johnson

Ever wonder why there are some people that always seem to be pissed with others. And on the other spectrum of the equation, there are those people that are never ever pissed with anyone? Personally, I think I belong more to the latter group, although there are times when I'm pissed with somebody, but it would blow over after awhile and everything would be fine and peachy again.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing this post is because of 2 recent incidents that happened to me or friends around me. Won't specifically go into the details of these incidents, but I'm just wondering, how come there are people that can hold a grudge for 2-3 years and why is it that there are people that who can find the energy to be pissed/angry with someone. Man... I find being angry absolutely energy sapping.

You know what they say, it takes 43 muscles to frown but only 17 muscles to smile. So people should be smiling and be happy more. But then again, it takes exactly 0 muscles to not do anything at all. So I'm going to be nonchalant from now on.

Unveiling the Rebel

Yeah man... I've got the Rebel in me. Canon Digital Rebel XTi that is. Thats the name of my camera in the States. In Singapore its just called the Canon EOS 400D. Sounds crap, so I'll stick to the Rebel.

Here are some of the pictures I have taken so far. First up, we have the impressive robots from my bro's model collection.

Check out the difference in focus man... Nice. Simple but very satisfying effect to create.

Next up, we have some flowers...

Oh my friggin' God right? Amazing colours! Makes me look like a pro! But the fact is, any retard could take this photo with the Rebel.

And here's my stab at an arty farty picture. Looks like something right out of the Ikea catalogue.

And finally, whats a photo collection without photos of sunset, right? So here are some pictures of sunsets taken at Upper Selatar Reservoir.

I'm not so please with the outcome of the sunset photos though, except for the last one. Still can't figure out the white balance, colour contrast, exposure, (insert your own photography jargon). Anyway, all in all, it has been very satisfying. Now all I need to do is get one of those photographer's jacket and try and convince some dumb blond that I'm a professional 'artistic' photographer. O_o
